Know what your skills are, and use them.
Not all leaders have exactly the same personality, and no two people have exactly the same skill set. No one is great at everything they do, but everyone has something that they bring to the table that no one else does. People can sense authenticity, and they can also tell when people are faking excitement. Do something you’re passionate about, and people will see that real passion and want to join in.

While fostering your leadership skills at work is important, often the people looked upon as leaders are those who display leadership across all areas of life. One of the hallmarks of an effective leader is the ability not to dictate, but to demonstrate. Where bosses typically tell you what you need to do, the leader will instead show you what needs to be done. Think of a team digging holes: the boss would be standing above them telling them where to dig while the leader would be down in the holes, digging alongside everyone else.
